The “Imai & Tonouchi Model (all soil)” is the easiest to use as the least amount of information is required for the input. Only the Standard Penetration Test (SPT) blow counts are required to be specified for each soil layer.

The other three conversion models require detailed descriptions of the soil classification, water content and the geological age of each soil layer to be specified. The PEER model also requires the vertical stress on the ground surface to be specified. Specifying very low surface stress when using this model may result in very high soil amplification in the simulated soil response.
